Murder Investigation In Old Windsor

A man arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was found has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

Officers found the body of a 58-year-old woman at a house in Old Windsor, Berkshire, at 10.30pm on Friday.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said the man was arrested on the same night. A murder investigation is ongoing.

Detective Superintendent Justin Fletcher, of Thames Valley Major Crime Unit, said: "A 35-year-old man from Windsor who was arrested on suspicion of murder has now been detained under the Mental Health Act."

A post-mortem examination and formal identification are yet to take place and family liaison officers are providing support for the victim's relatives, police said.

Mr Fletcher added: "Members of the public will see an increased police presence and a scene watch will remain in place in Church Road, Old Windsor, as we continue to investigate.

"We would advise any members of the public with concerns to speak to one of our officers or call 101."
