NHS Bosses Hold AGM Before Horton Downgrade

28 September 2016, 05:57

Campaigners will have the chance to hear more from the Oxford University Hospitals Trust tonight.

They're holding their Annual General Meeting at the John Radcliffe.

It comes less than a week before a downgrade to maternity services at Horton General Hospital in Banbury is due to come in.

From Monday 3rd October, Doctors will leave the unit which will temporarily be led by midwives.

There has been fierce opposition to the plans which some have claimed are not safe, but at an extraordinary meeting of the OUHT last month, Chair Dame Fiona Caldicot said:

"We've been running MLUs in our service for a number of years where I think patients and their families have had a very good experience completely safely".

In the event of an emergency during a pregnancy, Mums-to-be face a more than 30 minute drive to the John Radcliffe Hospital.
