Oxford: Murder Investigation After Man Found In Car

Thames Valley Police have arrested a second person in connection with a murder in Barton on Tuesday.

Last night (22/4) a man in his thirties from Cowley was arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently in custody.

The 31-year-old man from Oxford who was arrested earlier on suspicion of murder is still in custody following an application to extend his custody.

In addition police officers are searching a property in Mayfair Road, Cowley and also an area on Hillsborough Road, Cowley in connection with the incident in Barton on Tuesday evening (21/4).

Officers attended North Way in Barton at 10.48pm on Tuesday to reports of a man with chest injuries in a red Mazda car parked on the road.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where he was treated for his injuries, but died the following morning.

The victim is yet to be formally identified.

The junction of North Way and Burchester Avenue is closed as police continue to carry out searches and investigations. Diversions are in place and the closure will be reviewed today (23/4).
