Paralympian Campaigns For New Wheelchair

A Welsh Paralympian says he can’t believe the support he’s had to raise money to buy an electric wheelchair.

48-year-old Simon Richardson was hit by a drunk driver whilst training for the London games in 2011, just 3 years after winning two gold medals and one silver in Beijing.

He was thrown from his bike near Bridgend and was left at the roadside, breaking his back in several places.

He’s looking to raise £1,000 to regain his independence, as he says he’s housebound.

Simon, who was awarded an MBE for his services, says all donations are being accepted at the Blacksmith’s Arms in Llanmaes.
