Survey reveals the top ten schools in Wales

Cowbridge Comprehensive School has been named as the top performing state school in Wales this year.

The secondary school in the Vale of Glamorgan has topped the Sunday Times Schools Guide, which is based on exam results.

Radyr Comprehensive and Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Plasmawr come in second and third place.

Radyr came second in the list, but has been named as Sunday Times Welsh State Secondary School of the Year, after it jumped 73 places in the UK league table.

72 per cent of students at Radyr received A* to B grades, which is the highest figure among Welsh state schools.

  6. Crickhowell High School in Crickhowell
  7. Ysgol Eirias in Colwyn Bay
  8. Ysgol Y Preseli in Crymych
  9. Penglais School in Aberystwyth
  10. Llanidloes High School in Llanidloes

Westbourne School in Penarth was named as the top performing independent school in the 2019 list.

Theschool achieved some of the best sixth form results in the UK, with just under 98 per cent of grades at A* to B.
