Swansea Siege Man Pleads Guilty

A man from Swansea has admitted taking a man hostage inside Wales' tallest building.

38 year old Lindsay Coffey from Pontlliw carried out a two hour seige with an imitation pistol at the Meridian Tower in August.

Armed police and a helicopter surrounded the 300 ft tower on Swansea's seafront.

Coffey was arrested after being tasered by police.

He pleaded guilty to possessing an imitation handgun and false imprisonment at Swansea Crown Court.

Sentencing has been adjourned til January to allow for psychiatric reports to be made.
