Tree crashes into North Wales School

A fallen tree caused extensive damage to a village school’s playground today after strong winds overnight.

The oak tree came down at Bro Cinmeirch school at Llanrhaeadr, near Denbigh, North Wales. The part of the playground is normally used as an external classroom.

It damaged a canopy, a Wendy house and tarmac. There was no damage to the school building.

Headteacher Gwennol Ellis said:

"The play area was used by our younger children as their outdoor classroom and it was an important facility so this will cause some problems for us. We don't know the financial impact but it could run into several thousand pounds - that will need to be assessed."ENDS
