Police are looking for a group of men after a 61-year-old was attacked whilst attending a wake at a pub in Solihull.
He asked them to quieten down as he waited for his wife at the Olton Tavern in Lode Lane last month.
A CCTV video's been released - It happened on April 14 at around 7pm:
The man,who had just attended his brother’s funeral, had a banana skin and a small shot glass thrown at him from the table behind, causing him to turn ar ound and speak to the group of young men.
The man’s friend was then knocked over and he tried to calm the situation down but was struck to the back of the head as he got up.
The 61-year-old fell to the floor and was kicked and punched as he lay on the ground.
PC Chris Parry, from the violent crime team at Chelmsley Wood police station, said: “This was a violent and completely unnecessary attack on two men who had been minding their own business before the group began to pick on them.
“The level of violence was completely unprovoked and particularly distressing, given that the two men had just laid a close relative to rest.
“The 61-year-old suffered cuts and bruising to his face and upper body and a nasty ear injury which needed hospital treatment."
The two main offenders are both described as white, in their 20s. One was around 6ft tall, of stocky build, with tattoos on his arms. The second man had short fair hair.
