Pollice say they want to speak to a man who mot may be aware how seriously he injured someone in Birmingham.
A 32 year-old, described as a "family man" by police, was left with severe head injuries after another person ran up and pushed him from behind on Summer Row.
A CCTV has now been released of a man police would like to speak to about what took place on Summer Row during the early hours of December 27.
PC David Sherlock, from Birmingham’s Violent Crime Team, said: "We have identified someone as a result of our enquires that we need to speak to as a matter of urgency.
"This seemingly senseless attack has caused a great deal of pain to the victim and his young family which will affect him for the rest of his life.
"It is entirely plausible that the man involved is not aware of the severity of injury he has caused to an innocent man and may have been intoxicated at the time.
"We are appealing to the better nature of this man or anyone who knows who he might be to come forward to speak to us so that we can progress this matter and come to a suitable resolution for all parties involved."
