A son - who stabbed his mother to death in Coventry - has been jailed for 16 years for manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
Unemployed Thomas Westwood - of Rosemary Close in Tile Hill - was arrested after officers were called to his mother’s address in Cavendish Road on Friday 1st December last year where 68-year-old Susan Westwood was found with multiple stab wounds.
Westwood was arrested at the scene and claimed an argument had erupted after he made a cup of tea for his mother which was “not milky enough".
The 46-year-old claimed his mother had been bullying him every day and was to blame for initiating the knife attack and described her attacking him with the knife first.
A post mortem examination found that Susan Westwood died as a result of 17 stab wounds and Westwood admitted manslaughter on the first day of his trial last June.
