A Coventry woman is one of five people from the UK who've been shortlisted for a one-way trip to Mars.
The project which plans to set up a permanent human settlement on the planet by 2024 and will be filmed for a reality TV series.
24 year old Maggie Lieu is now one of a hundred people being considered for the mission.
She has told Heart her mum has been really supportive even though she knows she won't ever be coming back...
"Now that it's becoming more and more real she's very supportive and she's very proud.
"She did say that I am her only daughter and she is scared of loosing me, but she knows it's what I want to do."
The Astrophysicist who works at Birmingham University also told us about some of the home comforts from her current planet that she'll miss...
"Just being able to try on all the amazing clothes and fashion that people have here on earth and having access to make up toiletries and stuff like that.
"It'll be weird not having a shop and having access to everything."
Despite that the important purpose of the trip is what has driven Maggie to do it...
"The objective is to colonise Mars so become self sustaining and not rely on the resources of earth.
"We'll be able to grow our own food up there, we'll be repairing the ship, we'll be doing research."
