A man has been left in a coma after being attacked in Coventry on the Bank Holiday weekend.
Officers think the 25-year-old may have had a disagreement with a group of men outside the Standard Bearer pub before being chased into Deerdale Way and assaulted.
The man, who remains in a critical but stable condition in a coma in hospital, was found in a nearby garden at around 8.30pm on Sunday, 24 May.
Detective Sergeant Louise Hanlon said: “From the injuries the man has sustained, this appears to have been a violent assault which has left him with potentially life changing injuries.
“We have carried out house-to-house inquiries and we are still establishing if there is any CCTV in the area which may help us with our investigation, but we could really do with hearing from people about what happened.
“Whoever is responsible for this attack needs to be arrested and brought to justice, and I would urge anyone who was at the pub the Sunday before last and witnessed the dispute outside to contact us."
