Man Jailed For Life For Killing Cousin In Brierley Hill

A man has been jailed for life after being found guilty of stabbing his cousin to death in Brierley Hill.

28-year-old Christopher Harm was killed in a drunken rage by his cousin Glen Elvin in Engine Lane, in the early hours of 13 October 2018.

Police were called to the scene at around 1am where Mr Harm was found with a fatal stab wound.

Three men were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

The men had been travelling around the country in a van putting up posters advertising a circus.

Two were later released without charge before 26-year-old Glen Elvin originally from County Durham was charged with his cousin’s murder.

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard how the group had been out drinking at the nearby Waterfront pub the night before, when a disagreement between Elvin and Mr Harm led to a fight.

CCTV captured the moment Christopher ran away from Elvin with his hands raised. He was chased and stabbed with ferocious force by Elvin, who had taken the knife out of the parked van.

He died from a single stab wound to the heart.

Elvin was convicted of murder following the nine-day trial and was today (27 March) sentenced to life. He will serve at least 20 years behind bars.

Mr Harm’s family said their ‘loving son, dad and brother’ had ‘gone so tragically’ and that they had been ‘left in pieces forever’.

Detective Chief Inspector Edward Foster, from force CID, said: “Knife crime ruins lives and devastates families. We worked tirelessly to piece together the events that led to Mr Harm’s death and I hope today’s sentence can give his family some comfort, knowing the man responsible has been jailed.

“It’s a hugely tragic waste of a life, and our thoughts remain with Christopher’s family."
