Detectives have been given more time to quiz a 34-year-old man from Birmingham held on suspicion of terrorism offences.
The man, who was detained on Wednesday, can be kept in custody by the West Midlands counter terrorism unit until the evening of Wednesday November 23.
He was arrested on suspicion of ``being concerned in the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism'' under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000, West Midlands Police said.
The force said: ``The arrest was pre-planned and intelligence-led; there was no threat to the public's safety.''
A search at a property in Birmingham has been completed.
