Prisoner on the run in the Midlands

Police in Wolverhampton are asking local people to keep an eye out for a man who has absconded from prison.

Ashley Carlton James absconded from HMP Sudbury in Derbyshire on 20 December 2010.

He was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court in July 2008 for manslaughter to 10 years imprisonment.

He is described as white, 26 years old, 6ft 1ins tall, of slim build, with cropped black straight hair and brown eyes. His last known addresses are in Blackpool and Wolverhampton.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Payne, from force CID, said: “There is nothing to suggest Mr James is in Wolverhampton however he does have a number of associations to the city. We are linking in closely with Derbyshire Police and the Prison Service to locate this man as soon as possible

“We would ask the public to call us if they see him or know of his whereabouts rather than approaching him directly.”

Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of this man is asked not to approach him but to immediately contact Wolverhampton Police on 0345 113 5000 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously 0800 555 111.
