Funeral held for Private Alex Isaac

The funeral has been held for Wirral soldier, Private Alex Isaac, who died in a vehicle crash in Afghanistan.

He died last month with three colleagues when their vehicle came off the road and landed in a canal.

The 20-year-old, of 1st Battalion the Mercian Regiment, was remembered in a service at St Mary's church in Eastham.

The village was brought to a standstill as hundreds of mourners gathered for the funeral.

His girlfriend Megan Anyon paid tribute through the Vicar, saying:

"From the moment I wake until I fall asleep you are always in my thoughts.

"I'm going over and over our last conversation with you telling me all the things we were going to do when the tour was over.

"You always made me smile with all the crazy things you came out with.

"I will always love you."
