Man wanted after attempted abduction

Police have released an e-fit of a man they want to speak to after the attempted abduction of a 13-year-old girl

It happened in Wallasey on Friday 8 October at around 7pm when the girl was walking along Oakdale Road near Ashville Road.

Police say a silver people carrier pulled alongside her, a man got out of the car and tried to pull the girl inside the car while demanding she get in.

The girl managed to punch the man several times before running home.  She was uninjured, but was left very distressed by her ordeal.

The man is described as being between 20-30 years old, dark skinned or Asian with what is described as a "heavy accent". He was around 5ft 11in tall, of medium build with shoulder length dark hair described as being curly and messy.

He has bags under his eyes and heavy eye lids and it is thought that he has a scratch on his cheek. He was wearing a brown t-shirt with a Nike tick, tracksuit bottoms and black trainers with a red Nike tick.

DCI Ian Hassall said: "This is a very disturbing incident that has caused a great deal of distress to the girl and her family.

"Thankfully, incidents like this are very rare, however we are concerned about this man's behaviour and we need to trace him as soon as possible.

"I would appeal to anyone who lives in the area, who has seen this car and thinks they know who this man is, or was in Oakdale Road, Wallasey at around 6.55pm on Friday and saw something, to get in touch."

Anyone who recognises the e-fit, or anyone who has any information about this incident is asked to call Wirral CID, on 0151 777 2265 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
