Two women & child threatened with gun

Two women and a child have been threatened with handguns before having cash and an i-Phone stolen in a robbery on the Wirral.

It happened on Fairview Road in Oxton on Tuesday and the two robbers could have been as young as 15.

The robbers had their faces partially hidden and followed the women up a path on Fairview Road.

They were then threatened and forced to hand over their valuables.

Merseyside Police insist it is really rare to be threatened like this on the Wirral.

Detective Inspector Mark Tivendale said:

"This must have been a very frightening experience for the two women, who were in the company of a child and I would like to stress to the communities in this area, that incidents involving firearms such as this are rare and that we take them very seriously.

"We will not tolerate this type of criminal behaviour and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward.

"We believe that someone in the community must know who these offenders are, or maybe you have been offered an Apple i-phone for sale? I would urge you to make contact with us."
