Man attacked outside Chester pub

Police say racist abuse was allegedly hurled at a man as he was assaulted by a gang of men and women outside a pub in Cheshire.

It happened at around half past midnight on the morning of Sunday 17 October.  The 27 year old man was with three friends outside the City Arms Pub on Chester Street in the town when they were attacked by a group of both men and women.

The man was punched in the face and racist abuse is also alleged to have been shouted at the victim and his friends.

Cheshire Police have arrested and bailed 5 people on suspicion of assault.
