Wrexham Schoolboy wins national award

A Polish Schoolboy who moved to Wrexham five years ago and couldn't speak a word of English has won the UK Citizenship award for teaching English to new students.

Maciej Szukala is 15 years old and is a student at Rhosnesni High School. He's now won a national accolade for citizenship, teaching English to new pupils and helping young refugees receiving support from the local Red Cross.

Maciej says:

'I want to be an example to others who come to the country. I want too show people that when you start in a new school, it doesn't mean that it is going to be hard. It can be pretty easy to mix just try your best and use your skills.'

'It's all about helping the community you know it's just doing things for others and doing things for yourself really because by doing this I have learned English and not  just that but I'm helping my Polish community but also the community of Wrexham.'
