An exclusive Heart investigation's found 586 teachers were attacked in Yorkshire schools between 2011 and 2015
Figures we've obtained show the majority of these occurred in West Yorkshire, with 221 cases being reported to police there.
203 attacks were reported to Humberside Police, 160 to South Yorkshire Police and 2 to North Yorkshire Police.
Heart can also reveal there were 220 weapons found on Yorkshire pupils in schools over the last five years.
Knives and blades were the most common weapons confiscated but there were also knuckle dusters, hammers, bb guns and tear gas.
Vincent Uzomah was stabbed by a student at Dixon Kings Academy in Bradford last June.
He's been telling Heart about his memories of that day:
The Association of Lecturers and Teachers is also warning that although not all weapons found in schools will be used, they still pose a serious risk to pupils and teachers.
