Pride in Our City

More than 100 Lions are set to be unleashed on the streets of Bath.

They were sent out as blank sculptures to be transformed into works of art by artists. Among them was Bath's own Olympic Gold Medalist Amy Williams. Her Lion is based on the Gold medal she won in Vancouver. Other Lions have been decorated by Lord Bath, who modelled it on himself and Midge Ure, who's Lion is covered in the musical notes that make the intro music for Ultravox hit 'Vienna.'

Organiser Megan Witty told Heart ' The creativity used by our artists is breathtaking, from glorious mosaic effects, powerfull thought-provoking messages to the brilliant harnessing of new technologies and shreer visual fun. The first sculptures will go onto the streets of Bath from may 20th and a safari trail with maps to find all the lions will be ready by the end of June.

In September the lions will go into a workshop to have any damage fixed before being auctioned off for local charities.
