Bedford Assault CCTV Released

Bedfordshire Police have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to in connection with a serious sexual assault on a woman which took place in her parked car in Park Avenue, Bedford at 6.20pm on Friday 17 December 2010.

The car was parked near the junction with De Parys Avenue.

This CCTV, taken from a convenience store in Stanley Street, shows a man with a distinctive walk apparently carrying a hi-visibility jacket passing the store at 6.27pm. Police feel he could have vital information which would assist their investigation.

Previously released CCTV shows a man leaving Lurke Street to walk down Bedford High Street towards De Parys Avenue who is also wearing a hi-vis jacket with grey stripes, dark trousers and a dark hooded top.

Detective Inspector Mark Tobutt said: “The woman attacked had walked along Bedford High Street and De Parys Avenue before getting into her car in Park Avenue. The man who attacked her was wearing a hi-vis jacket and fled along Park Avenue past Robinson Pool, which is near Stanley Street. The man in this CCTV appears to be carrying a yellow fluorescent jacket with grey stripes and has a distinctive way of walking. As he was in the area at the relevant time he may have important information to aid our investigation, so we would very much like want to talk to him. If he recognises himself and would like to be eliminated from our inquiries he should call us.
