Disabled Bedford Teen Attacked By Cyclist

Officers in Bedford are appealing for information from the public after a 15 year old boy was attacked on Thursday, February 13.

The incident happened at 6pm in Chester Road, near to the junction of Old Ford End Road, in Queens Park. The victim was walking along the road with his father a short distance ahead of him when he was knocked to the ground by a passing cyclist who was cycling on the path towards him.

The cyclist also fell to the floor but got up and attacked the victim, stamping on his head about five times.

The offender is described as mixed race man, about 20 years old, medium build, wearing a black hooded top with the hood worn up, black jogging bottoms and brown training shoes with white markings on. He was in the company of another man who referred to the offender as "GERONE" or "JEROME". They both left the scene towards Old Ford End Road and Westbourne Road.

The officer in charge of this investigation, PC Sue Reynolds of the Bedford Local Policing Team, is keen to trace anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who can help trace the offender from the description given.

PC Reynolds said: "The victim is disabled and finds it difficult to walk unaided.  He has suffered facial injuries which required hospital treatment, and the shock of the incident has left him feeling very vulnerable. This was appalling behaviour and I would urge anyone who can help identify the offender to come forward and speak with officers."

Anyone with information relating to this crime can contact PC Reynolds, at Police Headquarters, in confidence, on 01234 858123, or Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.

Alternatively contact the independent crime fighting charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
