Four months after a dad-of-two from Northamptonshire was hurt on a night out in Bedford and died, a man accused of killing him has had a murder charge against him dropped.

Kevin Harrison, 48, (right) had been out in Bedford town centre celebrating a friend's birthday when he was hurt in St Paul's Square early on Sunday 11 September 2011.

Ravi Sandhu, 24, appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Monday 9 January 2012 and pleaded not guilty to both murder and manslaughter.  The Crown Prosecution Service announced at the hearing that they would offer no evidence to the murder charge.

Sandhu, of Kathie Road, Bedford, was granted bail.  The salesman for a plumbing company is due to go on trial at Luton Crown Court in March 2012.
