Bedfordshire Police are looking for witnesses to a sexual assault which took place on a bus coming into Bedford Bus Station on the afternoon of Thursday 22 July.

The incident took place on a No. 2 bus travelling from Kempston to Bedford Bus Station which arrived at the Bus Station around 3.40pm to 4pm on Thursday 22 July.

The white seventeen year old victim boarded the bus on its way from Kempston into Bedford and sat by a window facing the front of the busy bus. The offender boarded the bus several stops later and sat next to her.

After a few minutes he put his left hand on her right leg and the victim reacted by saying “Get off”. After another few minutes he has now extended his left arm across her chest and used his elbow to press against her right breast and carried our circular motions rubbing against it.

When the bus arrived in Bedford Bus Station the young girl got up to leave and the offender allowed her to pass him. Then, as she went to leave the bus the offender has moved behind her and used his left hand to touch her bottom and hip. She then ran off of the bus and lost sight of the offender at the Bus Station.

The offender is described as a black man in his forties, about six foot tall, well built, stocky and thick set wearing a hat and a green or brown short sleeved t-shirt.

Detective Constable Tracey Litchfield investigating the assault said: “This is a very serious assault in a very public place and could have been much worse. We are looking for witnesses travelling on this busy bus who might have seen the incident or saw the offender leaving the bus or around the bus station at around 4pm on Thursday 22 July. Please contact us before he offends again.”
