A 25 year old man's been arrested over the mugging of a Poppy seller as she was walking in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire.

Police say the collection tin Sue Plester had snatched out of her hands at around 4.45pm on Tuesday 9 November 2011 only contained around twenty pounds.

The 61 year old widow was knocked over and robbed in Tyelcote Court.  Two thieves came up behind her, pushed her to the ground and stole her collection tin.

Sue, who has been a poppy seller for 22 years, was left with a bump on her head and grazes on her knees, elbows and hands.

The man arrested has been released on bail while police continue their investigations.

Detective Constable Luke Moore from Bedfordshire Police said "this is a despicable crime against a woman who was working voluntarily for a good cause. This week is remembrance Sunday and the money taken should have been given to those in need."

Bedfordshire Police are asking anyone who may have seen what happened or anyone who has any information on the crime to contact DC Luke Moore on 01234 275356. You can also contact Beds Police by calling 101 or text information to 07786 200011.
