Haverhill:Elderly Lady Finds Burglars In Bedroom

Police are investigating after an elderly woman confronted two men who had got into her home in Haverhill.

The 74-year-old woman was disturbed by two men in her bedroom, on Friday the 4th of January at 9.30pm at the house in Mill Road.

One of the men grabbed the lady by her arm and demanded to know where she kept her money, the second man then searched her bedroom. The lady managed to pull her emergency cord to get help.

It is thought that the two men got away the same way they entered the property, through an insecure window. They left with a purse containing a small amount of cash.

Police have told Heart the lady has been left 'quite shaken' and want to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw two men acting suspiciously.

Police have released descriptions of the men:

The first man was white around 6ft tall, and he wore dark clothing.

The second man was white, shorter at around 5’8’’ tall and of stocky build; he wore a flat cap and also dark clothing.

Anyone with informations is asked to call DC Mike Blayney at Bury St Edmunds CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
