Haverhill: EuroMillions Winners Revealed
Haverhill: EuroMillions Jackpot Winners
Pictures from media call as the couple from Haverhill who won over £148 million on Euromillions Lottery are revealed.
The winners of the £148 million EuroMillions jackpot have been named as Adrian and Gillian Bayford from Haverhill.
Husband and wife Adrian Bayford, 41, and Gillian, 40, from Haverhill, won £148,656,000 in Friday's EuroMillions draw.
The couple, who have a daughter aged six and a four-year-old son, scooped the staggering sum with the winning numbers 50, 21, 17, 48 and 11, and the Lucky Star numbers 09 and 10.
Adrian co-owns a music shop in Haverhill.
Wife Gillian, a children's ward healthcare assistant at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, said she intends to leave the job and struggled to fully appreciate the moment they realised they had won the jackpot as their young son had just woken-up and was crying.
Adrian said: "I had been watching the film The Bank Job on TV while Gillian was out with friends.
When she got back we decided to turn over and catch-up on the news.
Scrolling along the bottom of the screen was the news that one person had won EuroMillions but Gillian confessed that she hadn't had time to get a ticket.
As a joke, I also said neither had I when in fact I had five lines upstairs waiting to be checked.''
The couple, who have been married for eight years, called family members to share the good news, having given up on getting the children back to bed.
Adrian and Gillian plan to start the search for their dream home, complete with a kitchen with all mod cons.
Gillian also plans to buy an Audi Q7, while Adrian has always wanted to visit the Canadian Rockies by train.
The children want to visit Disney World.
Gillian also added she wants to use the money to "make people smile".
She also added they have plans to share the money.
She said: "I think if you are a selfish person, it is a lot of money.
If you are selfish and keep it to yourself, yes, it is far too much.
But if you are willing to share it around and give it to people and let them have the quality of life you are having as well, it is more enjoyable.
Why can't a lot of people be happy off of somebody's two pounds?"
A spokeswoman from Addenbrooke's told Heart the staff are "delighted" for Gillian.
The owner of Bridal shop next door to Adrian's music shop in Haverhill told Heart that he is "really lovely guy, with a nice family, two lovely children and I am over the moon for them."
A homeless man in Cambridge, who saw a student set fire to £20, has told Heart the 18-year-old "deserves to be kicked out of University."
Cambridgeshire & Peterborough would need £800m to perform a radical overhaul of their NHS services, according to the British Medical Association.
There has been a national public outrage against a Cambridge University student who burnt money in front of a homeless man.
