Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue and the East of England Ambulance service have treated 9 casualties after a fire broke out at a textiles shop.

Emergency services were called at around 820 pm on Friday night (30th December) to a fire at a textiles shop on the Dogsthorpe Road.

When Dogsthorpe and Stanground fire crews arrived, they found the fire had already been put out, but left the store heavily smoke logged.

Nine people had to be treated for the effects of breathing in smoke - and where given first aid and oxygen by fire crews at the scene - who called for extra help from the ambulance service.

Four of the group had to be taken to hospital to get further treatment - injuring hand injuries.
