Gas Explosion In Chittering

A man's been left in a critical condition.

Police were called to reports of a man suffering serious injuries following a gas explosion at a premises in Chittering at 8.55am today.

Air ambulance and several road ambulances both attended the scene, at Produce Connection Limited, a potato supplier, on Ely Road.

Two fire crews were also called to help with the casualty.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) said: "We were called at 8.50am this morning following reports of an explosion in Chittering. We dispatched several resources to the scene including two ambulances, an ambulance officer, an air ambulance, and our hazardous area response team (HART).
 
"One person has been taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital by land ambulance with critical injuries. There are no further casualties and all ambulance resources have now left the scene."

Fire crews have also left the scene.
