Man Killed In Burwell Died From Gunshot To His Back
A man who was killed early on New Year's Day in Burwell, died as a result of a gunshot wound to the back, police said.
Jessie Smith, 36, known as Jess, of Common Road, Potton, Bedfordshire, was found dead following an incident in First Drove, Burwell, Cambridgeshire.
Officers were called just after 2am and have launched a murder investigation.
The cause of death was determined by a post mortem examination at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
Detective Chief Inspector Jason Gordon, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire major crime unit, said: ``We are in the early stages of this investigation but at this stage we are treating this as an isolated incident.
``We are keen to hear from anyone who may have information about this man's death.''
Anyone with information was urged to contact the major crime unit on 101 or CrimeStoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
