Burglar Jailed After Being Caught Red-Handed

A burglar who targetted a Bournemouth home is behind bars after police officers caught him with the possessions he'd stolen.

Christopher George Hoy, 25, admitted stealing items from an address along Cavendish Road in Bournemouth on Monday 13th August 2012.

He appeared before Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 24 August 2012 and pleaded guilty to one count of dwelling burglary. On Monday 22 October 2012 he was sentenced to 27 months imprisonment at the same court.

The court heard how Hoy was arrested after officers on patrol stopped and searched him. As a result of that search, property was recovered that had been stolen during the burglary at Cavendish Road.

Detective Inspector Richard Dixey said:

“Hoy was seen by officers while on patrol. It was their diligence and proactive work that led to his arrest and the stolen property being recovered.

“I hope that this case demonstrates that Dorset Police are determined to bring burglars, such as Hoy, to justice. As always, members of the public can assist us by reporting any information concerning criminal activity to the police, in the strictest of confidence, on 101.”
