Celebrations For Poole's Twin Sails Bridge
From fire shows to fireworks and illuminated art works, Poole will light up in celebration of the iconic Twin Sails Bridge today - Friday 9 March.
From 7-9pm, Poole Quay will be the scene of live music, street entertainers and family fun courtesy of Poole Tourism. In addition to dramatic fire shows, the free event, open to everyone includes the chance to learn circus skills at Jamie Jigsaw's circus workshop and balloon modelling with Jules.
Kids will have the chance to bust some moves at the children's disco and for the adults Not Just Sax will be performing their popular melodic funky Jazz. The event finishes in style with a spectacular firework finale, sponsored by Rockley Park, lighting up Poole at 9pm.
From 6.30-8.30pm, take the chance to see Poole in a new light as Brilliance, a fabulous free showcase of illuminated art work comes to Poole's Lower High Street & Quay. A series of 20 light based artworks and installations in shops, bars, restaurants, Poole Museum and Scaplens Court will give people a chance to see innovative, illuminated artworks by local artists.
Bruce Grant-Braham, Chairman of Poole Tourism Partnership, said: "If you missed out on a ticket for the Twin Sails concert, don't worry. The free celebrations will continue with fun and live music for all the family into the evening on Poole Quay and are open to everyone.
Brilliance is a wonderful way to celebrate the fabulous addition of Twin Sails to Poole's skyline, which is as dramatic at night as it is during the day. I hope everyone takes this opportunity to come down to the Quay, relax and enjoy this historic moment."
