Arrests After Guns Found On Kinson Common

A number of people have been arrested after police found guns on Kinson Common.

Kinson Common has been closed since Friday, 8 April 2011 when a shotgun was discovered in a wooded area.

Since then, a further seven firearms – and a quantity of ammunition – have been discovered by police officers searching the common.

No details of those arrested have been released.

Detective Superintendent Mark Cooper said:

"Following an ongoing police operation in relation to firearms recovered at Kinson Common over the weekend, a number of arrests were made by armed officers in the Redhill area of Bournemouth yesterday evening (12th April). A further search has commented and roads in the area remain cordoned off. Several addresses in Poole and Bournemouth have been searched and contained. No shots have been fired and no one has been injured in the course of the operation. I am keen to stress that there is no immediate concern for public safety."
