Police say they think a fire at a hotel in Bournemouth in the early hours of this morning, was started deliberately.

Firefighters were called to the Hallmark Hotel on Durley Road to tackle the fire in the gound floor laundry room around 3.45am.

Guests had to be evacuated, but no one was hurt.

Fire Investigation officer, Tim Spring said: "Arson is a mindless act, when our crews are called out to deliberately set fires they are often needed elsewhere, at genuine emergencies. Fortunately, no-one was injured in this incident but if fire crews are needed for life-threatening emergencies while attending malicious fires, things may not have turned out the way they did."

Crews were on the scene until approximately 5.30am.
