Otter Oasis Open At Oceanarium!
Bournemouth's Oceanarium celebrates the official opening of its new mammal enclosure - Otter Oasis!
The £150,000 waterfront penthouse for Bea and Buster the oriental otters officially opens on Saturday May 28th, in time for the half term holidays.
It's been built by a 30-strong team from Christchurch-based Stan Rendell and Co Ltd and Weymouth-based Aquarium Technology Ltd.
The purpose built enclosure includes a filtered pool, waterfalls and flowing streams - James Eels, UK Director at Parques Reunidos, which incorporates the Oceanarium, says:
"We are all very excited about this new enclosure, particularly as it will be the attraction's first mammal display. It's been built to replicate a natural habitat and allows the otters to express their natural behaviours."
The first rail freight service from the UK to China has arrived.
A tracker device led to it being recovered in Totton - a man's been questioned.
Special constables will be trained in CPR, using oxygen and defibrillators so they can be first responders if they're closest.
