Police are investigating a house fire at a family's home in Ringwood.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and Hampshire Police were called to a fire in an upstairs bedroom at the property in Poplar Way at around 5pm on Friday (14 November). Everyone inside got out safely.

Hampshire Police have begun a joint investigation with the fire service into the cause.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service says it's a residential area and an unusual event. The family were alerted to the fire following the activation of working smoke alarms.

A 46 year old female was treated at the scene by paramedics and later detained by police in relation to the incident. She was bailed to report back to police within the next week.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Southampton CID on 101.
