Wessex Water is warning drivers travelling between Bournemouth and Poole to expect delays.

Following repairs to a collapsed sewer last week the company unfortunately has to close the A35 between the junction with St Osmund's and Pottery Junction from 8pm today (Monday 7 June) so work can be carried out to fix a void below the road.

The void, which is above a sewer but in a separate location to the one which collapsed last week, needs to be repaired immediately and the company said it had no choice but to close the road in order to make it safe for motorists to use again.

It is expected that the road will be closed until Sunday (13 June) while the essential work takes place.

A Wessex Water spokeswoman said: "Unfortunately we will have to close the A35 while investigations are carried out to determine the cause of the void and repair it so the road is safe for motorists. It is inevitable that this work will cause disruption but we will be working as quickly as possible to complete the repairs and have informed 100 businesses in the area of our plans at the earliest opportunity"
