String Of Lead Thefts In Bournemouth

Police in Bournemouth are investigating a series of lead thefts in the town.

In the first incident lead was removed from the roof of the Virgin Media store along Commercial Road between 5pm on Sunday 22 January2012 and 9am on Monday 23 January 2012.

During the following week, between 6.30pm on Wednesday 25 January 2012 and 9am on Thursday 26 January 2012, offenders stole lead from the roof of St Stephens Church on Hinton Road.

Between 6.25pm on Wednesday 25 January 2012 and 7.40am on Thursday 26 January 2012 a roll of lead was removed from the roof of the Animal shop along Commercial Road.

Along the same road, Maplin Electronics was targeted sometime between 10pm and 11.10pm on Wednesday 25 January 2012, where offenders removed lead from the roof of the building.

Police Constable Stuart Greenwood, of Bournemouth police, said:

“In addition to these four incidents a theft occurred at St Michaels Church on Poole Hill at the beginning of January.

"Overnight between Friday 6 January and Saturday 7 January 2012 a large quantity of lead was stolen from the roof.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in these areas during these times to contact police as soon as possible.

“It’s possible that these offences are connected – we are keeping an open mind.

“Anyone with information about the offenders should contact Dorset Police urgently.”
