Couples getting married in Bournemouth will soon be able to tie the not in a beach hut.
It’s after Bournemouth Council signed an agreement with a wedding firm to provide the UK’s first dedicated wedding beach hut.
The first couple will be able to marry there in April next year, the wedding beach hut will then be available for weddings for six months from April to October every year, from 10am with the last wedding at 4.30pm, seven days a week.
Packages will start at £999, which includes use of the licensed Wedding Hut, a wedding planner and arrival by cliff lift.
Melanie Kiani, Director of Bellissimo Wedding Planners, the company behind the idea said:
“Never before has it been possible to conduct a legal, civil ceremony on the beach in this country, we think it will be phenomenally popular.”
Bournemouth register office receives around 60 enquiries a year for beach weddings but previously the only option for couples was to travel abroad.
Mark Smith, director of Bournemouth Tourism, said:
“We think this will be of huge appeal to young couples who want to keep an eye on wedding budgets but dream of getting married on the. Bournemouth is easily accessible from London, the Midlands and home counties so everyone can be part of the big day.”
