Woman Attacked On Bus

Police in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after an alleged assault in the town – with one woman being arrested.

The incident, in which one woman was allegedly assaulted by another, happened along East Street in the Chickerell area of Weymouth at 10.30am on Monday, 28 February 2011.

A 21-year-old woman, from Weymouth, sustained injuries to her knee and wrist.

 Investigations Officer Vernon Allen, of Weymouth CID, said:

 “I understand that both women were travelling on the number 8 bus from Weymouth town centre to Chickerell prior to the incident.

 “At the stop in East Street both woman got off the bus and shortly after the alleged assault took place.

 “I am appealing for witnesses and anyone with information about the incident or events leading up to it to contact me as soon as possible.

 “All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”

The arrested 19-year-old woman, from Weymouth, was released on bail.
