Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed by a masked female in a Leighton alley.

The offence happened at 11.30pm on Friday (Feb 4) in a passage that leads from New Road to Church Road, where the victim was approached by an offender who demanded her purse.

The 26-year-old handed over her black Apple iPOD, which was in a pink case, and a pink digital Canon camera, after which the offender made good her escape in an unknown direction.

Police carried out an area search and arrested a woman, but she was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

DC Lynn Adams, a member of the Divisional Robbery Squad, is keen to speak to anyone who saw the offender, who is described as white, aged about 24, 5ft 10ins tall and of slim build with a black and white scarf covering her face.

She is also interested in hearing from anyone who is offered the property, finds it discarded, or has heard someone talking about the offence.

She said: “Although the victim was uninjured, she was extremely shocked to be approached and robbed in this way. We would urge anyone who has heard or seen anything that could assist to get in touch.”
