Firefighters have tried and failed to rescue a 90 year old woman from a housefire in Luton.

Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service say the fire started in the bedroom of a house on Marsh Road just after 5am on Saturday 21 July 2012.

It's thought the fire may have started as the result of an electrical fault.

Firefighters tried in vain to rescue the woman, whose identity has not yet been revealed.  We're told she was the only person in the house.

An investigation's been carried out into the fire by both Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue, and Bedfordshire Police.
