Who is a carer?
A carer is someone of any age who provides unpaid support to family or friends whose health or wellbeing could suffer without this help. This could be caring for a relative, partner, child or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems
How can we help you?
Crossroads employs and trains Carer Support Workers who are carefully vetted and supervised.
What do they do?
Carer Support Workers go into people’s homes in order to relieve the carer. They take over the work that the carer would normally do.
This includes all areas of the care of a person with disabilities as well as preparing simple meals. The main carer is then free to have time for themselves. We aim to provide regular help to prevent a breakdown in the health of the Carer occurring.
How much help is available?
Crossroads offer regular weekly support or an occasional break. The relief care is offered at the time best suited to the family and can be during the day, evenings or at weekends.
What do we deliver?
Our Support Workers will turn up when agreed, stay for the whole duration of the time agreed and, as much as possible, we will allocate the same support worker to visit you every time.
