Basildon: Police Confident Of Finding Man Alive

19 July 2013, 00:00

Police have not found any sign of Michael Redmond who went missing two weeks ago

Officers investigating the disappearance of a man in Basildon say they are confident they will find him alive.

47 year-old Michael Redmond was last seen in the bar at the Kingswood Fitness Centre at around 7.20pm on Friday, 5 July.

Searches have been carried out in the area including at the nearby golf course but so far no sign of Mr Redmond has been found.

Inspector Neil Carman from Essex Police has told Heart there is no obvious reason why he has gone missing: "Mr Redmond's got a very good job, he's got a good income.

"He lives in a nice area within Basildon. At present we have no particular indication why he should have gone missing.

"It's completely out of character."

He also added that just because they have not found any evidence of him, it doesn't mean he's come to harm: "Just because there's no activity on his bank account or mobile phone, doesn't mean they're dead or anything like that.

"They just might not want to be found, and if that's the case it becomes very difficult for the police to find them."

Inspector Carman has urged Mr Redmond to get in contact with his family, friends or the force to let them know he is ok.

He is described as white, 6ft tall, bald and has blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a pink polo top and sky blue shorts.

He has a tattoo of the devil on his left arm and Danielle inscribed on his right arm.
