Police looking for man suspected of farm shooting

A man wanted in connection with a gun attack at a travellers' site in England might have fled to Northern Ireland, police said.

A nationwide hunt has been launched for Francis O'Donoghue, 27, who is wanted on suspicion of attempted murder after a shooting incident in Essex last month.

Two men were injured in the attack on August 27.

Officers say O'Donoghue might have made contact with members of the travelling community in Northern Ireland and have warned the public not to approach him.

O'Donoghue is described as about 5ft 11in, medium build, with short brown hair and protruding ears.

An appeal for information on his whereabouts was  broadcast on Crimewatch on Thursday night. A 28 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released on police bail until later October pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Harlow's Major Investigation Team on 01279 621802 or to email SCDappeals@essex.pnn.police.uk or call the confidential Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555111.
