Essex: Trains Hit By Hot Weather

A number of Greater Anglia services have been hit by the hot weather.

The train operating company is imposing speed restrictions and cancellations as older sections of overhead lines can expand and sag in high temperatures.

A revised timetable is taking place today (Tuesday July 24th) between 12pm and 7pm.

In a statement Heart has been told services from London Liverpool Street to Shenfield, Southend, Chelmsford, Colchester, and Harwich will be affected this afternoon/evening.

Services from London Liverpool street to and from Chingford, Enfield Town, Cheshunt, Hertford East, Cambridge and Stansted Airport, as well as Stratford to Broxbourne and Bishop's Stortford, will not be affected by these restrictions and Greater Anglia say they plan to run a full service throughout the day.

Advice to Customers: 

Train services from London Liverpool Street to Shenfield, Southend, Chelmsford, Colchester, Harwich, Ipswich and Norwich: 

From 12:00 Norwich to Liverpool Street services will call at their usual stops to Colchester and then non-stop to Liverpool Street. 

From 12:30 Liverpool Street to Norwich services will operate non-stop to Colchester and then will call at their usual stops to Norwich.

From 12:38 Liverpool Street to Colchester Town services will no longer call at Romford in either direction.

From 12:13 Liverpool Street to Southend services will no longer call at Romford in either direction.

This afternoon, all Liverpool Street to Southminster services will start/terminate at Wickford. Customers for stations to Southminster are advised to change at Wickford.

The following train services have been cancelled:

1617 Liverpool Street to Witham.

1647 Liverpool Street to Witham.

1650 Southend Victoria to Liverpool Street will be terminated at Wickford.

1712 Liverpool Street to Witham.

1722 Liverpool Street to Southminster will be started at Wickford.

1802 Liverpool Street to Southminster will be started at Wickford.

1816 Witham to Liverpool Street1820 Liverpool Street to Harwich International will be started at Colchester.

1838 Liverpool Street to Ipswich will be started at Colchester.

The following train services will not call at Romford:

1135 Colchester Town to Liverpool Street.

1213 Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria.

1238 Liverpool Street to Colchester Town.

1235 Colchester Town to Liverpool Street.

1313 Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria.

1338 Liverpool Street to Colchester Town.

1413 Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria.

1438 Liverpool Street to Colchester Town.

1513 Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria.

1210 Southend Victoria to Liverpool Street.

1310 Southend Victoria to Liverpool Street.

1410 Southend Victoria to Liverpool Street.

1435 Colchester Town to Liverpool Street.

1510 Southend Victoria to Liverpool Street.

1538 Liverpool Street to Colchester Town.

Evening Peak service alterations: 

Liverpool Street to Harwich boat trains will start/terminate at Colchester. Customers for Harwich International and Harwich Town are advised to change at Colchester. 

Liverpool Street to Witham services will be cancelled. 

Liverpool Street to Southminster services will start/terminate at Wickford. Customers for stations to Southminster are advised to change at Wickford. 

In a statement Greater Anglia say: "We have sought to cancel the minimum number of trains possible but would like to apologise to customers affected."

TFL London Underground and c2c will be accepting Greater Anglia tickets from 12pm until approximately 10pm on all reasonable routes to assist customers travelling home.
