Fatal Crash Near Southminster

A man has died after the car he was driving crashed into the front of a house before hitting a tree near Southminster.

Emergency services were called to Steeple Road in St Lawrence at around 2.30am. The man was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

Inspector Scott Egerton, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident where a man has died. The road will be closed for another couple of hours whilst forensic and recovery work takes place.

"We are investigating the circumstances leading up to this collision and I would urge anybody with any information about what may have happened to contact my officers as soon as possible."
