Flood Warnings In Place For Essex

The Environment Agency has put warnings in place for parts of Essex following heavy rain.

The Agency says high river levels are being seen in Chelmsford due to steady rain on Sunday.

Flood warnings are in place for riverside areas of Chelmsford city centre, including Central Park and Admirals Park, the cricket ground and Court Industrial Estate along with properties in Shrublands Close, Chaucer Road and Andrews Place.

The agency issues warnings when flooding is expected and "immediate action" is required.

Elsewhere, flood alerts - released when flooding is possible and people should be prepared - are in place for the River Colne from Castle Hedingham to upstream of Halstead, the River Wid from Ingatestone to, and including Writtle; the River Stour from, Sudbury to Manningtree inclusive;Rivers Pant and Blackwater from Great Bardfield to Langford, including Braintree and the River Brain from Black Notley to Witham; River Colne from Great Yeldham to, and including Colchester; River Chelmer from the A138 at Chelmsford to Maldon; River Crouch from Noaks Bridge to Runwell, including Wickford; River Roach as well as Prittle Brook and Eastwood Brook at Southend.
